Professor Yuta Hirose's paper has been published in “IEEE Engineering Management Review”

A paper authored by Professor Yuta Hirose as the first author has been published in Volume 54, Issue 2 of IEEE Engineering Management Review, an academic journal published by the Technology and Engineering Management Society (TEMS) of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

The title of the paper is “Navigating Organization-wide Roadmapping through Maturity Assessment.”

This paper represents the culmination of the Organization-wide Roadmapping Implementation Maturity Project, which began in 2018 and has produced a total of five journal publications to date. The project aimed to advance roadmapping practices that support strategic formulation and decision-making, starting with the development of a maturity model (2020), followed by in-depth case studies with Subsea 7 (2021), QinetiQ (2022) and IHI Corporation (2023) through which the analytical dimensions of roadmapping implementation were systematically characterised. This final paper (2026) demonstrates the practical application of the proposed methodology through a case study with a major British material processing company.

This research was conducted as an international collaborative project involving the University of Cambridge, Seoul National University and Mahidol University, with support from the Strategic Technology and Innovation Management (STIM) Consortium at the University of Cambridge. The outcomes of this research are also expected to contribute to future studies in foresight, strategic decision-making and consensus-building. In an era of increasing uncertainty, how foresight can be connected with strategy formulation and decision-making is expected to become an increasingly important research theme.

While this publication marks the conclusion of a long-running research stream initiated in 2018, it also represents the starting point for Professor Hirose’s next research agenda in foresight and strategic decision-making under uncertainty.
