Guest Lecture by Yasushi Ogawa, President and CEO of Integratto Inc., in "Strategic Operations Management"

Aoyama Business School (ABS), Graduate School of International Management, Aoyama Gakuin University, welcomed Yasushi Ogawa, President and CEO of Integratto Inc., as a guest speaker in the Operations Strategy course taught by Professor Taka Hosoda. Mr. Ogawa delivered a special lecture entitled "Assumption-Driven Management and Simulation Methods to Support Corporate Risk-Taking."

In today's increasingly uncertain business environment, organizations face growing challenges in accurately predicting the future. Under such conditions, enhancing the quality and credibility of business plans has become essential for making sound managerial decisions while taking appropriate business risks.

During his lecture, Mr. Ogawa first emphasized the importance of conducting rigorous fundamental analysis as the basis for developing a business plan. Drawing on his extensive practical experience, he explained that rather than attempting to evaluate countless assumptions, managers should identify and focus on the key assumptions that are most critical to business success and systematically validate them.

He also demonstrated that simulation is far more than a tool for numerical calculation. Instead, it serves as a decision-support tool that enables managers to quantitatively test hypotheses and improve the feasibility and robustness of business plans. Furthermore, he stressed that successful business planning requires more than simply presenting analytical results. Equally important is developing a compelling and logical narrative that connects the analyses into a coherent story capable of gaining the understanding and confidence of stakeholders, including executives and investors.

For the students, the lecture provided an excellent opportunity to connect the concepts of operations strategy and business simulation with real-world managerial decision-making.
